This page explains what Basic QR does and does not do with your information.
Last updated: October 2026
The short version
- The content you put into a QR code is generated in your browser. We do not upload it to our servers.
- You do not need an account to use Basic QR.
- A few settings are saved on your own device so the studio works well. You can clear them at any time.
- Third parties (fonts, hosting and advertising) may receive standard technical data such as your IP address when your browser loads their resources.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for your name or email to create or download a QR code, and we do not receive the links, Wi-Fi passwords, contact details or logos you enter into the studio. This content is processed locally in your browser.
What is stored on your device
Basic QR uses your browser’s local storage for:
- Theme choice (light or dark).
- Your current design, so a page refresh does not lose your work. This stays on your device.
- Export pass information, such as when your pass expires and how many downloads remain.
You can remove this data by clearing your site data in your browser settings.
Hosting and technical data
Basic QR is delivered through Cloudflare. Like most websites, the hosting and network providers may process standard technical request data (for example IP address, browser type and requested page) to deliver the site and keep it secure. We may add privacy-friendly analytics in the future; if we do, we will update this page.
Fonts
The site loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts. When your browser requests the font, Google may receive your IP address and standard request data under its own privacy policy.
Advertising
High-resolution exports unlock after a short sponsor break. The advertising partner is Monetag. The advertising script is loaded only when you start the sponsor break, not while you browse or edit. Advertising partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to show and measure ads, under their own privacy policies. We never send your QR content to advertising partners. If we add other advertising partners, we will list them here.
Cookies and consent
Basic QR itself does not set tracking cookies. Third-party advertising scripts may set their own. Where the law requires your consent for these, we will ask for it. You can also block third-party cookies and scripts in your browser, and the export unlock still completes when the countdown ends.
Children
Basic QR is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Because we do not keep your QR content or an account profile, there is very little personal data for us to hold. If you believe we hold information about you and want to ask about it, please use the contact page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
